Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. This means both the authors’ and reviewers’ identities are concealed. Decisions will be communicated to authors as quickly as possible.

Ethics Policy

Journal of Start-Up Innovation and Management (JSIM) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. We expect all authors, reviewers, and editors to adhere to the following principles:

For Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: All submitted work must be original. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited. Proper attribution must be given to all sources.
  • Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant intellectual contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All authors must have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission for publication.
  • Data Accuracy: Authors must ensure that their research data is accurate and verifiable. Deliberate manipulation of data is unethical.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
  • Prior Publication: Manuscripts submitted to JSIM should not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Ethical Research: If the research involves human participants or animals, authors must state that all procedures were performed in compliance with relevant institutional and national ethical guidelines.

For Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. They should not share or discuss the contents of the manuscript with anyone.
  • Objectivity and Impartiality: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers should complete their reviews within the agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
  • Disclosure of Prior Knowledge: Reviewers should alert the editor if they are aware of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper.

For Editors

  • Fair Play and Impartiality: Editors will evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and the publisher.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors will recuse themselves from considering manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published, based on the validity of the work in question, its importance to researchers and readers, the reviewers’ comments, and legal requirements.
  • Handling of Unethical Conduct: Editors will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred. In the event of suspected misconduct, the journal will follow the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
